First prototype of a diving watch

The first prototype of a diving watch is presented to the Royal Italian Navy. The reference 2533. It is disputed whether this model was presented at that time with the mysterious S.L.C. Dial or with the neutral California dial.

The first copies were delivered with the California Dial, later versions also with the classic 12 - 3 - 6 - 9 dial.

Reference 6152-1 is a variation of the reference 6152 with a slightly modified case shape. This reference was still delivered without a crown guard, later with the patented crown guard (today the recognition feature of PANERAI).

Birth reference 6152

Since the braided wire lugs did not withstand any long-term stress, the housing was changed. The housing as well as the lugs were now milled from a block. Reference 6152 was born. From the transition phase from the reference 3646 to the reference 6152, two prototypes were also produced (welded lug prototype, hornlug prototype).

This year, the reference GPF 2/56 L'Egiziano also appears as the Egiziano Grosso for the Egyptian Navy. It differs significantly from all previous references with a rotatable bezel and an oversized case width of 60 mm.
